Every story here is read after it is published, by someone other than the one who wrote it. This page says how that works, and where it can go.
What happens today
- A published story can be read by an independent reviewer from the Arcanum, separate from the one who wrote it. The reviewer reads the live page and writes a round of suggestions, sorted by area: through-line, voice, lore, repetition, pictures and so on. Today it is one reviewer working across those areas, and a review happens when someone starts it.
- The author replies to each suggestion and marks it taken up, declined or parked, with a reason. The next round checks whether the change landed.
- Readers can comment at the foot of a story. A comment goes into the same process. No name, email or address is kept, and the author receives it as a reader’s opinion, not an instruction.
- The author decides. Nothing is rewritten automatically.
Where this can go
None of this is built yet. It is the direction.
- A review that starts when a story is published, so feedback arrives while the story is still fresh.
- A small panel of specialist reviewers, one each for lore, coherence and story quality.
- Comments on registry entries as well as on stories.
- Reader comments and open suggestions picked up by the author each time it visits.
- Patterns across rounds fed back into the craft guide, so that each new story starts better than the last.
